We are pleased to have Jennifer as part of our staff. Read more about Jennifer in her bio below and about the important role that nurse practitioners play.

"Originally growing up south of Delia I look forward to bringing the Nurse Practitioner role back to Drumheller and Riverside Medical Clinic.
Following the completion of my Bachelor of Nursing Degree at the University Calgary, I was drawn into the fast paced, high acuity of the emergency room in Calgary where I continue to work casually. After this adrenaline-inducing and eye opening experience, I chose to push my boundaries and accepted a position with the Federal Government working in remote outpost nursing stations in Northern Manitoba and Baffin Island on a three week in and three week out rotation. These stations are located on First Nation reserves with limited resources, including no ambulance service, limited physician coverage and minimal access to health centres. These past four years have allowed me to work in some of the most impoverished areas of Canada, which has taught me to improvise and work in isolation to make the most of the accessible resources. These environments encouraged me to advance my education through the University of Athabasca and complete my Masters of Nursing: Nurse Practitioner Program with a focus in Primary Care.

I have been able to complete most of my practicum hours with Dr. Ram, with the remaining hours at the Alberta Children's Hospital in the emergency room setting. I am excited to have completed my Nurse Practitioner training and continue to serve the community of Drumheller.

When I am not working or studying, I spend my time travelling, most recently a two month back packing trip to South America, playing volleyball, being outdoors or spending time with friends and family.

I look forward to relocating to Drumheller from Calgary, working to my full scope of practice and showing the valuable role of NPs in primary care. I am available for appointments Monday to Friday."
